FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Friends:
A

s we embark on a new academic year, Monmouth’s 90th as an institution of higher learning, I feel it is important to reflect on our remarkable achievements from the past year. Our commitment to integrating excellence and access continues to be the driving force behind our mission, and I am pleased to share with you some significant milestones in this effort.

Last fall, we welcomed an incoming first-year class that set new institutional benchmarks for academic preparedness. Equally important, nearly half of the Class of 2026 are first-generation students and/or come from low-income households as measured by Pell Grant eligibility. Our efforts to integrate excellence and access gained further momentum last spring from an anonymous $21 million gift, the largest in the University’s history. The gift established a scholarship program that will help us recruit and retain high-achieving students facing financial hardship, changing the life course of deserving individuals for generations to come.

Throughout the previous academic year, we continued making strategic improvements to our campus infrastructure, updates that will ensure we are providing our students with first-rate facilities. I was proud, therefore, that Inside Higher Ed lauded our continued success at enhancing our campus and increasing student aid while remaining financially strong.

We also celebrated a number of historic firsts last year. Our inaugural Gala at the Great Hall raised half a million dollars in support of our Access Fund. Our debut season in the Coastal Athletic Association garnered our athletics program multiple team and individual honors—including our first-ever CAA conference championship—while simultaneously showcasing our fine institution to key markets up and down the East Coast. The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music’s first American Music Honors event brought recording icons to campus while reinforcing the Archives’ mission to preserve and promote the enduring story of American music.

As you will see from the accomplishments highlighted in the following pages, Monmouth is indeed flourishing. That is why as we continue celebrating our proud history during this anniversary year, I am filled with optimism about our future. Our position in the academic landscape, our commitment to accessibility, and our dedication to excellence in education have never been stronger.

This journey toward being a national leader in integrating excellence and access is a collective endeavor, and each of you plays an integral part in our success. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to Monmouth University. Together, we will continue to make remarkable strides toward a brighter future.
